Fred has been playing a retro JRPG I picked up earlier this month of a previously Japanese-language-only release by NIS called Rhapsody 2. Originally titled Puppet Princess 2, it came out for the PSX all the way back in 1999. Within this game, you could already see the writers for NIS perfecting their funny but raunchy style that would cumulate in their huge international success, Disgaea.
This game is bundled together with the 3rd game in the series under the title of Rhapsody Marl Kingdom Chronicles. The first game is sadly not included with these two, having been previously included with La Pucelle Tactics in a collection released on Nintendo Switch.
For more information on the game, you can read it’s wiki entry here.
I remember playing Rhapsody, never played the sequel.
The sequels weren’t available in English until a month ago. I’d imported them decades ago when they first came out since they were so fun but I couldn’t enjoy the full story until now. 🙂
